Check Verification
SCAN
- Shared Check Authorization Network (SCAN)
- Check authorization product that uses a network database to accept or reject a check.
- When a merchant who subscribes to SCAN reports a bad check, the check writer's name goes into the SCAN database. If that person tries to write a check at another SCAN location, the transaction will be declined.
Features
- If a merchant accepts a check that was approved by SCAN and that check turns out to be bad, SCAN will provide a collection service at no charge to the merchant.
- The merchant can use a magnetic reader to scan a check's MICR number, or the MICR number can be manually entered on the keypad.
